John Flynn,
Master Quilter
John Flynn, well-known instructor, author, inventor and fabric designer, offers classes that not only teach a project but give students an opportunity to improve their piecing and quilting skills with his low key one-on-one guidance. Don’t miss a chance to participate in one of his innovative workshops and see some of John’s wonderful quilts up close. |
“Confessions of a Non- Traditional Quilter”
In his most popular lecture, John likes to tell the story of how he became a quilter, to show slides of his quilts and techniques and to “show and tell” some of the quilts he brings to share.

Dresden Plate
Dresden Plate is a time tested quilters’ favorite, and this workshop version will feature both pointed and round petals. Won’t it be great to learn how to make the petal appliqué easier and faster? John will bring a number of samples set with different sashings, including an authentic string pieced sash that is simple and fun to make. The plates are finished with your choice of machine or hand buttonhole stitch.
Arabic Lattice
The Arabic Lattice block is not seen often and yet, it is very versatile. Scraps, plaids or even a closely controlled color palette will all work. The block can be set three different ways: as a tessellation, with an off-set block or as a pinwheel. Once you have learned this quick technique for making partial seams it will be a trick that you’ll be able to use on a variety of other blocks.
