Each individual contest category will have a First, Second and Third Prize!

Best of Show Award
Judges will choose a "Best of Show" from the first place winners. The prize for "Best of Show" will be an Enlighten Serger from Baby Lock USA.

Contest Categories:
Christening Gown or Christening Suit

• Share your cherished garments designed for a christening/dedication occasion
• Any techniques

Quilts or Quilted Wearable’s

• Bed quilts, baby quilts, lap quilts or wall hangings
• Clothing
• Quilts will not be displayed fully, but judges will view the entire quilt

Handwork

• Item needs to contains some form of Smocking, Hand Embroidery, Needlework, Drawn Thread, etc.

Creative Clothing (non-purchased garment)

• Clothing sized for infant through adult
• Fancy or casual clothes

Machine Embroidery on Clothing (non-purchased garment)

• Garment which has been embellished by machine
• Children through adult clothing
• Boys, girls, women or men

Textile Creations - Clothing

• Anything that is sewn and does not fit into the other categories. This can include clothing accessories.

Textile Creations – Miscellaneous

• Textile arts, beading, wall hangings (not displayed fully), doll dressing, etc.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE CONTEST INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES:

1. Prize is a Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold Sewing & Embroidery Machine given by Baby Lock USA.
2. Each attendee will receive a PEOPLE'S CHOICE ticket for each day a ticket is purchased.
3. Each day the ticket holder will vote for any item in the contest by writing the number of the item on the ticket and depositing the ticket into the daily box at the contest booth.
4. The PEOPLE'S CHOICE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A WINNER OF ANY CATEGORY. EVERY ENTRY IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE.
5. Votes for PEOPLE'S CHOICE may be dropped off at the contest booth during vendor mall hours. Voting begins on Thursday, January 12th at 10:00 a.m. and it will end on Saturday, January 14th at 12 Noon.
6. After the tickets are tabulated, the winner of PEOPLE'S CHOICE will be announced at 2pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
7. All taxes are the responsibility of the winner.

SEWING CONTEST RULES:

1. Entries submitted must have been made by a consumer who has purchased tickets to Martha's Sewing Market, including one for Saturday, January 14, 2012 as well as one for either Thursday, January 12, 2012 or Friday, January 13, 2012. Anyone who has purchased a ticket for at least two days (including Saturday) can enter this contest.
2. *The words above in the descriptions which say "hand made by machine" mean that the entire garment/item must have been sewn by hand or machine. You cannot enter purchased garments which have been embellished.
3. Entries can be submitted at the contest registration desk before 10am on Thursday or Friday (12 or 14). After 10am entries may be dropped off at the contest booth in the vendor mall during vendor mall hours. No entries will be accepted after 4pm on Friday. You must fill out a form which you will receive when you enter your item.
4. An entry fee of $5 per entry must accompany each entry registration form. All entry fees go to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Winnie Palmer Hospital. Entry fees must be paid in cash or check made payable to the hospital.
5. Judging will be conducted by a panel of local sewing guild officers and sewing professionals, not to include Martha Pullen staff. The judging will be held at close of the show on Friday evening.
6. Entries must be picked up no earlier than 2pm on Saturday from the contest booth.
7. Individual contest category winners will be posted in the lobby on Saturday by 10am. Prizes and ribbons may be claimed at the time you pick up your entries. Owner must be present to have item returned.
8. Each individual contest category will have a first, second and third place. Prizes are listed above. Ribbons will also be given.
9. Best of Show and PEOPLE'S CHOICE will be announced at 2pm on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded at this time.
10. Each entry must have this information stitched or safety pinned inside: Name, cell phone, home phone and address.
