Lace-Edged Hemstitched Baby Blanket with Carol Ahles
Replicate the classic look of vintage baby linens as you make a beautiful Austrian Cashmere Cotton flannel baby blanket with hemstitched crochet-like lace edging. Learn a creative way to hemstitch lace while cording for strength, color and texture, as well as how to perfect hemstitching on flannel and while stitching curves. Most students finish this charming baby blanket in class! Hand or machine embroidery could easily be added later and what a perfect baby gift this would be! Cutting It Apart…
Let’s take different sections of a garment and learn the professional way to sew the details. Details tell the story when it comes to fashion sewing, and a foolproof system for creating them can easily be yours. Sewing all day long, you’ll execute each technique and create a workbook of samples. Create the best-looking collar band, sewn completely by machine. Add to your sewing bag of tricks as you learn an easy way to create a tab front on a shirt…clean finished inside and out, a “cool” collar with foolproof corner edge stitching, a balanced couture double ended designer dart, a rolled designer couture hem and much more…all the elements necessary for great garments and time efficiency in your home studio. Gain complete confidence in your abilities, both technical and artistic for all parts of your garment. Discover notions and feet that help you become unerringly accurate. Learn trimming and shaping secrets for smooth, bulk free corners and curves. The bonus: discussions taking place throughout the day will add to your sewing ambitions and fashion sense.

Serger 911
Spend a day serging with Kathy Ruddy and go home with a clear understanding of how Sergers work. Kathy, the creator of 5 Serger videos, will teach you a sequential tension formula that works on any Serger model for every thread type and with all kinds of fabrics. Learn about Serger burrs and Serger width and how they affect the character of your stitches, especially when using the rolled-edge stitch. Learn about differential feed and Lyra. Wipe away the mystery of Serger tension forever! Begin your day with pre-cut fabric pieces and leave with completed technique samples for a Serger pocket, 10 minute tank top, Serger jacket and the sequential tension formula. **You may want to bring your own serger so you can learn the tension formula for it or a Baby Lock Serger will be provided for the class.

Drafting New Designer Tees
Has your old tee become boring? Have you seen a neckline you wish you could imitate? You can change boring to new and interesting and you can imitate that neckline you saw. Come to Emma’s class where she will show you her easy ways to vary tee necklines while using her extensive color instructions that show several different ways to make changes. You can also learn to create a tee dress, as well as an empire tee or empire tee dress that actually sits in the right place. If you have a garment that you would like to recreate, bring it or a picture too. Change is good!!!

Ahh Sleeves!
What a difference a sleeve can make. Learn to enlarge the sleeve to fit your arm and how to add a bit of spice to the same ole sleeve. Learn to make changes on set-in or raglan sleeves plus how to make the drafting changes without changing the whole pattern. Create with colorful and informative instructions that show you several examples and provide you with the confidence to create some of your own ideas or duplicate those you have seen. Come learn some fun styles and bring ideas with you.
